2014: A Year In Fashion

2014. A year that has gone so fast, almost too fast. You've already forgotten everything that happened before october, and you're continuously asking yourself; was that 2013 or 2014? Although I can't remember anything before October, I couldn't let myself forget my favourite fashion moments of 2014, before October or not.

- Chanel S/S 15 show: A show that I think wasn't celebrated nearly enough. Not only did Karl create yet another stunning collection, but he created a show that should be celebrated around the world. He created bolouvard Chanel, a Parisian street in the late 60's early 70's. The show itself was amazing but it was the final walk that got people talking. Out comes Karl leading and army of Chanel clad feminist soldiers. With models holding signs reading; 'Make fashion not war', 'ladies first', 'be your own stylist', 'history is her story' and 'feministe mais feminine ( feminist but feminine)'. Guest were running from their seats to get pictures of this amazing 'feminist rally'.

- Rihanna's CFDA awards dress: Yes that dress. Both celebrated and hated around the world. Whether you loved ( I definatly did) or hated this look it will never be forgotten.

- Oscar De La Renta - RIP: The death of a true fashion icon. He will be remembered as one of the greats.

- The Kardashians: Every year is a year worth noting for the Kardashians. But this year in particular they left a larger than usual foot print in the world of fashion. Kendall's modeling carrer has well and truly sky rocketed this year having shows like Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, Chanel, Fendi and Balmain under her belt.

But the real focus, as usual, was on Mrs Kim Kardasian West. Since finding love with Kanye her style has made a drastic change for the better. She's transformed into a chic, stylish mama right before our eyes. Yet not Suprisingly early in the year the couple made waves in the fashion world, and not all good. The couple stared on the cover of Americian Vogue together. This caused outrage as to why they or Kim in particular was aloud on the cover of such a prestigious fashion magazine. This also sparked rumors that Kanye paid Anna Wintor to feature Kim.

We can't forget to mention little North West. At the tender age of one not only does she have a closet full of designer that we only dream of but she's also already sat front row at a Givenchy show, dressed in custom Givenchy.

- Alexander Wang & H&M collab: The most awaited collab of the year. When I heard this collection would exist I was jumping for joy. Wang's cool and sophisticated style at an affordable price. Life was great.

So, 2014, that's a wrap. Bring on 2015.

Favourites from NYFW S/S 2015 so far.

Fashion week is by far one of my favourite weeks of the year. This fashion week I'd have to say that the Victoria Beckham and Alexander Wang shows have definatly been my favourite so far. Now I am a little biased because I am completely obsessed with Victoria and all she does, Alexander Wang also has to be one of my favourite designers.
Trends I noticed, now I'm going to admit I'm not a number 1 trend spotter but I'm doing my best. In Victoria's show I noticed that a lot of her looks reached the calf or were below the knee (although this picture isn't a great representation), there was a lot of whites and blacks with pink and yellow florals, the shoes were either a dark clunky platform shoe with a thick heel or the shoes shown a white loafer/monk shoe, some even with the featured floral.
In Alexander Wang's futuristic show there was a lot of black or white pants or dresses with bright or neon accents/ crop tops. Speaking of crop tops they also played a big part in the show, some had cut outs and some were boxy.

Introductions.

Hi, I'm not really great at the whole introductions thing but I've been putting this off for too long, so I'm going to give it my best shot.

I've always loved fashion and reading blogs and they've really inspired me to want to start my own. Unfortunately I've been procrastinating and telling myself I'm too scared to write this very post - but I didn't want to put it off any longer so I'm biting the bullet and going for it.

When you meet someone, which in some form is what (if someone is reading this) we're doing now, you get to know them, learn about what they like and what they don't, so here goes.

- My name is Emma
- I'm from Australia
- my favourite seasons are Autumn/Winter (just because of the phenomenal coats)
- some of my favourite designers include: Givenchy, Mulberry, Alexander Wang and Acne.

Thanks for reading this most likely boring introduction and I hope to be posting again soon.
